The estimated base salary range for this role is “$88,000 to $100,000” per year.

AWI Marietta plant has the opportunity for a Manufacturing Operations Specialist role reporting directly to the Boardmill Value Stream Manager. The Manufacturing Operations Specialist will be an integral part of day-to-day operations with the responsibility of being the liaison between the hourly workforce and the salaried support team. The Manufacturing Operations Specialist will also be responsible for driving safety, efficiency, and accuracy within daily operations of the wet end area of the board mill.

What will you do?
- Responsible for leadership decisions and interactions to ensure SQDC metrics are met in the dry end of the boardmill
- Accountable to motivate and empower employees to promote cross functional collaboration
- Understand the plant priorities and influence setting the value stream priorities
- Coordinate maintenance activities that promote reliability for the operation
- Plan, prevent, and prepare for success to keep the value stream tracking towards weekly/monthly metrics
- Leverage internal and external resources to complete work effectively
- Recognize opportunities for change and implement improvements
- Assists with troubleshooting of the day-to-day operations of the wet end in the boardmill with the ability to identify root cause and implement countermeasures
- Contributor to the gemba and VSST process within the value stream
- Own Standard Operating Procedures with Process Engineer
- Aid with developing crewing training plans with supervisors and training coordinator
- Coach, train, and teach employees on dry end equipment, process, and procedures
- Help with supervisor development of dry end equipment, process, and procedures
- Assist supervisors with coordination of operational tasks during planned or unplanned downtime events
- Plan operational tasks and responsible for the execution of tasks during a planned boardmill down day
- Utilize Augmentir to develop a database of standard operating procedures, reaction guides, training documents, etc.
- Own lock out tag out procedures for the dry end of the boardmill
- Owns 5S practices for the dry end of the boardmill
- Raw material coordination with logistics
- Oversee and assist supervisors with crewing scheduling and overtime postings
- Monitors GIP produced and audits for discrepancies
- Audits production entries for accuracy
- Assist with other operational demands as needed
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma plus 5+ years of manufacturing experience or bachelor’s degree in technical field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering), business, or related field.
- Knowledge and practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing or process improvement principles to enable organizational transformation.
- Proven ability to implement and audit systems to drive the utilization of technical and support systems to achieve manufacturing results.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
