With limited supervision from the TAL Manager, this position is accountable for performing a wide variety of technical work. Working in the Acoustical Laboratory, they are responsible for workflow management, interacting with customers, managing how the acoustic testing is performed and developing installation methods and procedures for unusual products. In addition, this role requires first line equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

What You’ll Do:
- Responsible for scheduling and running all acoustics tests
- Schedules installers/schedules daily workflow
- Creates lab reports
- Technician and installer training
- Works as an installer for acoustics testing
- Customer communication answering questions and providing technical guidance for testing and requisition support (changes/questions for test requests, scheduling issues, testing issues, results, etc.)
- Provides external customer lab tours for sales and marketing
- Deputy technical manager for acoustics lab
- Responsible for securing building and equipment maintenance including ordering test supplies
- Instrumentation maintenance, trouble shooting, and calibration (mechanical and electrical)
- Impedance Tube test operation
- Formal Acoustical Report creation
- Supports UL submissions
- participates in outside organization – governing body that creates test standards (ASTM)
- Certified for confined space
- Working safely and creating safety awareness for teammates
- Sets housekeeping standards
- Various other duties may be assigned
What Will Make You Successful
- Be able to perform safety risk assessment and take proper action so that work is completed in a safe manner for the individual and those he is working with.
- Must be comfortable working with laboratory, shop, and test/measurement equipment
- Mechanical and electrical skills (Audio a plus)
- Problem solving skills
- Communication skills - written, verbal, listening, and telephone
- Computer skills, Microsoft office package, internal programs specific to the testing lab
- Logistics skills in the planning of acoustic lab operations with the goal of maximizing productivity and efficiency
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Ability to work comfortably in confined spaces
- Ability to safely lift and move bundles of ceiling material weighing up to 40 lbs
What Makes You Stand Out
- Basic mathematical skills, must be good with numbers
- Experience operating a walk-behind fork truck and tow motor
- Ability to utilize and maintain microphones, including calibration
- Acoustics knowledge
- Prior laboratory experience
- Demonstrated safety experience or a strong personal commitment to safety

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions with standard level of noise and dust containing mineral wool and fiberglass. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment when entering the floor of manufacturing facilities based on the specific requirements of each location.
