Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

The Capital Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs and drawings for capital projects. This role involves working closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and budget constraints.

What you’ll do: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design Development: Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers and project managers to evaluate the feasibility of proposed designs and refine product structures.
- Documentation: Document design processes, assembly instructions, and other project requirements for manufacturing teams.
- Testing and Revision: Test prototype designs to ensure they meet required specifications and make necessary adjustments.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and project specifications.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, and tools.
- Perform calculations for dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Revise and update designs based on feedback and testing results.
- Coordinate with other workers to resolve design or other problems.
- Calculate mathematical formulas to develop detailed specifications for components or machinery.

- Proficiency in CAD design tools to create accurate 3D models and detailed drawings
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project managers to refine designs
- Attention to detail in documentation, tolerances, and specifications
- Problem-solving skills to evaluate feasibility and improve designs within budget and project constraints
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
- Graduating seniors in December 2025 or May 2026
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software, strong technical drawing skills, and the ability to perform detailed calculations.
What will make you stand out:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Mechanical Designer or a professional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) may be beneficial.
- Previous experience in mechanical design or a related field
